ABOUT THIS COURSE
This free training course, developed in partnership with the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT), is intended to provide you with the necessary context knowledge and realistic skills to foster an inclusive culture in the open source community.
This course is for someone who is interested with or wants to get involved in open source software communities.
At the completion of this course, you will have acquired the necessary context experience and skills to foster inclusivity, sustainability, and inclusion in open source societies.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
This course covers information on diversity in technology, the value of diversity for creativity, the fundamentals of implicit and cultural bias, and how to understand unconscious bias in technological environments. The course also teaches students how to identify, respect, and involve individuals of various races, ethnicities, sex, ages, talents, and other identity categories in open source groups, as well as how to encourage inclusivity and diversity.
